My 4th Big Help Art Trophy in a row...

This year again I participated in a Drawing contest conducted by BigHelp on their annual meet to celebrate Pongal and Republic day Celebrations at Canton High School on Jan, 5, 2013. This year also I took BigHelp theme and did this drawing which won me 2nd Prize in the category of 5th and 6th graders.

This time, the idea was to help kids become starts of the nation. Providing education is a BIG HELP in achieving this goal. I took the BIG HELP logo and portrayed Goddess Saraswathi to represent Education and drew a bird rising and flying to become the start of the nation. The same BIG HELP logo is used to show a kid becoming START of the nation.

This time the caption of my drawing was Educating kids is a BIG way of HELP making future starts of the nation!, by highlighting BIG HELP in it. I used water color pencils this time. My Dad introduced me to water color pencils and I enjoyed it.

Here is my trophy and Certificate:

As usual, my Dad was the first one to Congratulate me and said "Congratulations Bhuvan! You did it fourth time in a row". But I was little disappointed at the result, I was hoping for the 1st prize. All my friends and parents said my Art work deserved a 1st place.

Me receiving my Trophy and Certificate:

It was an all day fun event. I also participated in Mat Bee, but I have never been serious about this competition. At the end I had so much of fun with all my friends.

New Year with a new Art Trophy…Again

This year again I participated in a Drawing contest conducted by BigHelp on their annual meet to celebrate Pongal and Republic day Celebrations at Canton High School on Jan, 10, 2011. This time I took BigHelp theme and did this drawing which won me 2nd Prize in the category of 3rd,4th and 5th graders.

The idea was to draw a needy kid who doesn't have any scope for education, not even food and clothes and looking fora helpig hand. A golden hand comes and helps him sending to School giving him education making him a happy kid. The Helping Hand comes from a responsible citizen. I tried to show the helping hand as nation, meaning Helping kid is helping the nation. The Sun on the left side is covered by a dark cloud, representing the dark life. On the right side, the kids life is filled with the glory of Education. Education is represented by Goddess Saraswathi's Veena and a Book. Also, I used appropriate colors to represent the life before help and the life after help.

Here is my trophy and Certificate.

Of course, my Dad was very happy and was the first one to Congratulate me.
Me with my Trophy and Certificate:

Here ate the top-5 finalists among which top-3 were selected by the Panel of Judges.

I also won first prize at their last year celebrations. Check it here.

I won cup stacking competition at my new school...

My new school, Cottage Street Elementary School celebrated Cougar Day today and we had Cup Stacking competition. I competed with 2nd and 3rd graders and won the finals to become Cup Stacking Champion!.

It was a 6-cup stacking competition. We had to turn 6 cup stack into a pyramid of 3,2,1 and then back to single 6 stack. I did all that in 4.25 seconds.

I got "Cup Stacking Champion" certificate and Free Friday popcorn for the rest of the year. That was so cool.

My brother Rithvik also competed with 4th and 5th graders and won the final. I learned the technique from him the night before. Rithvik is really good at it. Thanks Rithvik for teaching me the technique.

I won coloring context at my school...

I won coloring contest at my School out of 400 contestants. My class screamed when they heard my name on the speaker. Some of my friends even told me that they knew I was going to win the contest. When I told my Dad, he gave me a BIG HUG. I got $10 to choose books from the book fair at my School. I bought Japanese erasers and the following two books (one for me and one for my brother Rithvik) and with that money.

Now I will have to practice and learn fast 'How to draw Bakugan'. I already did one and I will post it soon.

New Year with a new Art Trophy…

I am back this year with another Art trophy. Yesterday we went to the Sankranti and Republic Day event organized by BigHelp in Boston area. I participated in Art contest and won 1st prize for my Sankranti drawing. I did one on the same subject last year in TAGB Sankranti celebrations which won me 1st prize. This time I made few changes and did the same but little different.

Last time it was based on what I learned from my Dad describing me how they used to celebrate Sankranti in their village Damaramadugu when he was a kid of my age. This time I added a Family, and a Happy home in a village celebrating the festival of joy, colors and harvesting.

When I saw all other kids’ works, I wasn’t sure if I would win 1st place this time. There were several good ones. But, my efforts delighted me again and won the 1st prize. I took the trophy on the stage along with other winners. I was telling my Dad after coming home that my hands were sweating when I was standing on the stage. I was really excited and started feeling the Joy of Winning.

Thanks to BigHelp organization for giving kids an opportunity to show their talents.

I also did a Bhangra Dance with my brother Rithvikand friends Nilay, Sridhar and Dhiren at this event. I love Hadippa song and will post my video next time.
